Requirements for the Major (52 credits)
I. Introductory (16 credits)
II. Social Science Introduction (4 credits)
IV. Electives (16 credits)
Students choose courses from at least three different departments on the list (check semester offerings for a complete list as new courses can be added each semester). At least one of these electives must have a global component or perspective (see section B). A minimum of two of these courses must be outside of BST or ECON. A minimum of one of these courses must be at the 300-level. Students may use an internship INTC 200 - Internship Project for one elective class (four credits), if the project is approved by the Director of Business and the student satisfactorily completes the Business internship paper. Note: some of these electives may require a prerequisite course.
B. Global Perspectives
At least one of the electives must have a global component or perspective.
V. Capstone (0 credits)
The capstone course asks students to take previous work they have done and apply it to a major course project. Students will have to present their research to each other, alumni, faculty members, and local business leaders in a public event. This requirement will be fulfilled at the end of the semester in which students take either BST 304 , BST 305 , and/or BST 310 and it will be integrated into the requirements for these courses. While students are likely to have this experience twice in their major, completing one such public presentation will meet the major capstone requirement.
Notes
1. Business majors may not double major or minor in Economics.
2. For the purpose of the major, Economics and Business are counted as two separate departments.
