REL 260 - Religion and Culture: India4 credits An introduction to the history, literature, and practices of the religions of India, with major focus on the foundational traditions ofVedism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and the later emergence of Hinduism, Islam, and Sikhism. While providing an overview ofeach tradition, the course emphasizes the dynamic interactions among them that have shaped the development ofreligious and cultural traditions on the subcontinent and their civilizational significance.
