ENGL 304 - Advanced Studies in Sexuality & Literature4 credits This course examines how sexuality is articulated and mediated through literature and such modes of cultural production. Attention will be paid to specific iterations of sexuality (e.g., gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, transsexual) and the ways in which they are explored in and shape a variety of U.S. texts. Emphasis on queer theory and critical thinking on sexuality. The course may focus on a specific theme or sub-genre such as Speculative and Utopian Narratives, Race, Ethnicity & Sexuality, Lesbian Film and Fiction. Course may be repeated as topic changes.
