FREN 326 - The French Asian Connection4 credits This seminar focuses both on the presence of Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese writers who established themselves in France and Canada from the 1980’s on, and on authors who reside in their country of origin but write in French. A theoretical framework and historical and cultural contexts provide the analytical tools to discuss representative narratives and poetry, with a focus on the following topics among others: love, food, cultural dialogues, gender, sexuality, otherness, identity, memory, exile, and the influence of Confucianism, Buddhism and Daoism on some of these works.
