BIOL 109 - Understanding Cancer4 credits Explores the science, at an introductory level, behind the molecular and cellular processes behind the mysterious transition that causes a normal cell to become a cancer cell. Cancer is a group of diseases that kills one out of every four individuals world-wide; the mere mention of the word “cancer” has a chilling psychological impact. Students will have an opportunity to learn about the basic diagnostic and treatment strategies that physicians use to treat patients, as well as discuss the financial and psychological impacts of this group of diseases so we can all be better at “Understanding Cancer.” BNS - CLA-Breadth/Natural Science
