PSCI 348 - Political Economy of War and Peace

4 credits
This course will examine how political, social, and economic factors intersect and shape the causes and consequences of conflicts, as well as exploring the effectiveness of policies aimed at ending conflicts and rebuilding communities in conflict zones.  In addition to studying some of the general literature on the cost of militarization/conflict, the impact of colonialism, and the link between income inequality, resource distribution and conflict, we will examine a number of past and current conflict zones. We will also look into the ways that gender, race and class issues shape the impact of conflict and post-conflict resolution. Instructor Signature Required. Equivelent Course: ECON 348 .
