HIST 350 - History of American Journalism4 credits Explores the development of American journalism in all media over three centuries. Topics covered include the colonial press and its role in the American Revolution, the rise of partisan press, ethnic newspapers, “yellow journalism,” investigative reporting, popular magazines, public relations, radio and television news, the “alternative press,” coverage of the Vietnam War and Watergate, the portrayal of journalists in other media (such as film), and the rise of Web journalism.
