EDUC 503 - Instructional Design

4 credits
Provides a theoretical orientation to instructional design and assessment. Students have an opportunity to learn to design lessons that address Common Core State Standards, New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, and college and career readiness standards and that are based upon empirically tested models that meet the needs of diverse learners. These models include direct instruction, lecture-discussion, activity based lessons, learning stations, cooperative learning and project/ based learning. Additionally, study strategies to enhance their students’ academic vocabulary and learn how to incorporate these strategies into their formal lessons. With attention to Common Core State Standards from K-12, candidates become familiar with the spiraling of content across grades. Fieldwork is required. Enrollment limited to junior and senior standing.
