SOC 325 - Classical Sociological Theory4 credits An examination of classical sociological theory, including the works of such theorists as Addams, DuBois, Durkheim, Martineau, Marx, Simmel, and Weber. Objectives include (1) assessment of how social and intellectual forces influenced the development of these theories; (2) examination of the construction and testing of specific theories; and (3) demonstration of how classical theory has contributed to the development of contemporary sociological theory.
