CLAS 230 - History of Ancient Greece4 credits An introduction to the history of Greece from the Bronze Age to Alexander the Great. Topics include the heroic palaces; the city-state; Classical Athens and Sparta; relations with Persia; social life, art, theater, and religion; the origins of philosophy and politics; the legacy of Greece. Special attention is given to original sources, with readings from the Greek historians and consideration of archaeology. Same as: HIST 230 . Offered fall semester in even-numbered years.
