CSOC 644 - Ethically Responding to Violence Against Women

3 credits
This course investigates the moral dimensions of intimate violence against women. It focuses on cultural dynamics that contribute to both the problem of intimate violence against women and the strategies for addressing it. Religion, specifically, Christian faith and church life, is one of its primary concerns. How has Christianity contributed to the problem of intimate violence and what are some practical, constructive, community responses to it, especially for Christian religious leaders? The theoretical approaches include biblical and theological analyses, narrative accounts, and feminist human rights and social science analyses.
