Since 1912, graduate study has had a distinguished history at Drew. The Caspersen School of Graduate Studies offers several different degree programs in the humanities.

Master of Arts in Teaching

Master of Arts in Teaching program leads to an M.A.T. degree and provisional teaching certification in Biology, Chemistry, English, French, Italian, Math, Physics, Spanish, Social Studies, or Theatre Arts. Learn more .

M.F.A. in Poetry

The Drew University Master of Fine Arts in Poetry Program is a two-year, low-residency program for poets and poet translators. Students hone and develop their talent, as well as gain knowledge of the craft and poetics of contemporary American writers, and writers from other eras and cultures. The program offers some of America’s most talented poets as faculty mentors who work one-on-one with our students. Learn more. .

Arts & Letters

The Arts and Letters program offers graduate-level interdisciplinary studies that explore the foundation and development of civilization in relationship to contemporary societies. Degrees offered: Master of Letters (M.Litt.) Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.), Certificate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Learn more .

Medical Humanities

The Medical Humanities program is designed for health care providers, educators, and interested lay people who wish to engage the science of medicine and the humanistic endeavor of care-giving in a meaningful dialogue. Degrees offered: Certificate of Medical Humanities (C.M.H.), Master of Medical Humanities (M.M.H.), Doctor of Medical Humanities (D.M.H.). Learn more .

History & Culture M.A/Ph.D.

The History & Culture program is an interdisciplinary program in modern intellectual and cultural history. It trains scholars to speak on a range of intellectual and cultural issues in sophisticated yet accessible ways. In addition to preparing students for academic careers, History & Culture emphasizes preparation for non-academic fields through internships, special seminars and workshops. Based on a competitive evaluation, a select number of doctoral students receive Fellowships with full financial support for five years. Degrees offered: Ph.D. and M.A. Learn more .
