Requirements for the Major (58-66 credits, or 70 credits)
The Department of Chemistry offers three majors: a Chemistry Basic Major (58 credits), an American Chemical Society (ACS) Approved major in Chemistry (66 credits), and an ACS-Approved major in Biochemistry (70 credits).
I. Chemistry Basic (58 Credits)
II. American Chemical Society (ACS) Approved Majors
The American Chemical Society (ACS) has developed national guidelines for Bachelors programs in chemistry and approved chemistry programs that meet these standards by offering “a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education that gives students intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become effective scientific professionals.” Drew offers an ACS-approved Chemistry major and an ACS-approved Biochemistry track that provide students with a nationally recognized course of scientific study.
ACS-Approved Chemistry Major (66 credits)
Complete all courses in the Chemistry Basic Major plus two additional courses, at least one of which must include a lab (indicated by *), chosen from the following
ACS-Approved Biochemistry Major (70 credits)
