II. INTERMEDIATE AND UPPER LEVEL COURSE WORK (20-22 CREDITS)

Students must take an additional 24 credits at the intermediate or upper level, including at least 2 credits at the 400 level to provide a capstone experience during their senior year. At least 16 credits (including the capstone) must be at the upper level, and at least 4 courses must have labs.

 In order to gain breadth in the field of biology, majors must take at least 4 credits from each of the three subareas below (cellular/molecular, organismal, supraorganismal) OR 8 credits from each of two sub-areas. Courses listed in two groups may be applied to only one subarea requirement. Four credits of BIOL 370, 390, 394, or 396, or NEUR 296, 394 or 396 can substitute for 4 credits in any one subarea.
