BBST 720 - In the Beginning: Genesis 1-11

3 credits
A concentrated exegetical study of Genesis 1-11 with attention to textual content and possible socio-historical context, some of the major critical problems addressed in scholarship, and a selection of theological, ethical, and interpretive questions that have been raised for readers and hearers in the history of reception. A special focus with this term will be the consideration of Genesis 1-11 as literature dealing with communal trauma, social organization, and communal identity.
