ARHI 832 - Modern British and Imperial History3 credits The world as it is known today was shaped very largely by Great Britain and its Empire. Students survey the political, social, economic history of modern Britain and its relationship to the larger world. It will cover the rise and fall of British power, industrial society, popular culture, “Victorianism”, social reform, “the English national character”, the First and Second World Wars, the “Swinging Sixties,” and the Thatcher Revolution.
