AREL 829 - Contemporary Poetry3 credits Explores poetry written in the United States and Europe from 1960 to the present, with special emphasis on works published in the last 30 years. Considers the influence of literary Modernism on contemporary poets, as well as themes of loss, grief, survival, and resilience. Students will have the opportunity to read and respond to the works of Heany, Szymborska, Hirshfield, Oliver, among many others.
