AREL 820 - Willa Cather and William Faulkner: A Conversation3 credits
Explores the lifelong dialogue and rivalry between these two major American modernists. Growing out of the work of Merrill Skaggs in her ground-breaking work, Axes, students may consider the major novels and short fiction of each writer. Students will have the opportunity to explore the pervasive themes and tropes in each of their works and consider how these giants respond to and undercut each other’s conclusions.
