ARFA 815 - The Value of Art3 credits
What is the value of Art? How can it be quantified? Students will have the opportunity to discuss how in the recent decades the prices of artworks sold at auction skyrocketed and how Art has become a branding phenomenon. Starting from a list of the 10 most expensive artists of this decade, students may take museum trips to see these works from life. Students may also compare these 10 artists to 10 artists from 10 years ago and to 10 artists from 100 years ago. This will be done with the purpose of understanding how the Art market works, while also examining how Art was valued then and how it is valued today. Same as MDHM 611 .
