STAT 400 - Statistical Machine Learning

4 credits
Introduces statistical machine learning techniques, using the statistical programming language R. Specific topics of focus may include supervised learning methods, such as linear and logistic regression, k-nearest neighborhoods, discriminant analysis, and decision trees, and model assessment tools, such as cross-validation. Discusses the importance of ethics in statistics.  Previously offered as STAT 240. Prerequisite: STAT 207 . CLA-Capstone, CLA-Writing in the Major
