ENGH 318 - Old English4 credits Students will have the opportunity to achieve a basic proficiency in the English language of the 7th to 11th centuries—the language of Beowulf—as well as an overview of the varieties of texts written in Old English, and will be initiated into the study of Anglo-Saxon culture. Includes an introduction to the grammar, reading of basic prose, and ultimately poetry. Prerequisite: ENGH 150
