WRTG 120 - Academic Writing

4 credits
Devoted to writing as a practice, craft, and skill. Intended for students who have not fulfilled their first-year writing requirement through the Drew Seminar, and for those who have but want to continue to strengthen their writing skills. Engages students in an intensive study of scholarly communication. Students will have the opportunity to learn about and practice the conventions of academic writing as assignments scrutinize the construction and organization of arguments and offer an understanding to how writers establish their ethos and use sources effectively. Allows students to read and write in varying genres. Aids students in developing a metacognitive awareness of their own writing practices and how they intersect with the expectations of an academic readership through regular reflective writing.
  For first year students only.
