CHEM 250A - Organic Chemistry I3 credits
A systematic survey of structure, nomenclature, and reactions of common functional groups and carbon compounds. Topics may include stereochemistry, chirality, stereoisomerism, nucleophilic substitution and elimination, insertions, radical processes, oxidation-reduction and acid-base equilibria. Includes spectroscopic analysis. Discusses applications to systems of biological significance. Prerequisite: CHEM 160 and permission of instructor.
