SOC 326 - Contemporary Sociological Theory4 credits An examination of theory building and testing in contemporary sociology. Divided into two parts. Students first examine the general principles, procedures, and criteria used in the construction and the testing of contemporary sociological theories. Students will then have the opportunity to systematically assess how various contemporary theories such as conflict, exchange, feminist theory, functionalism, neo-Marxist theory, postmodern theories, and symbolic interactionism have been constructed and tested. Prerequisite: SOC 101 .
