4 credits A study of Newton’s laws applied to the motion of particles and systems of particles. Forced and damped harmonic oscillators. Central-field motion, collisions, conservation laws, Lagrangian mechanics, and Hamilton’s equations. Also rigid body dynamics and topics in computational physics. Prerequisite: PHYS 150, PHYS 160, and MATH 250.
