MUS 233 - Music of the Whole Earth

A broad survey of world music, including tribal, folk, and art music, specifically music of Africa, Asia, and Indonesia, among others. Emphasizes analysis of the music and its historical and cultural contexts. Requires written critique and attendance of a live performance of non-Western music or an additional research project designed in conference with the instructor.
