MUS 227 - Music Theory I4 credits Diatonic Harmony. Learn to use quantitative analytical techniques to gain a better understanding of the construction of tonal music created between 1600 and 1900. Beginning with a review of fundamental music theory, scales, intervals and chords, students will have the opportunity to explore the tradition of diatonic harmony with western classical music through part-writing analysis. Prerequisite: MUS 102 . Corequisite: MUS 227L . CLA-Quantitative
