CHEM 362 - Chemical Biology

4 credits
Addresses the following questions: (1) What is chemical biology and (2) What can chemical biology do to advance science and human health? Students will have the opportunity to consider varying definitions of “chemical biology” and explore examples of each of these views. Topics may include chemical and biological strategies to synthesize biological macromolecules, small molecule screens to decipher biological networks, genetic control with small molecules, directed evolution, self-replication, and applying evolutionary principles to organic synthesis. Prioritized registration for seniors and juniors majoring and/or minoring in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Prerequisite: CHEM 360 . CLA-Breadth/Natural Science, CLA-Breadth/Interdisciplinary
