EDUC 310 - School & Society: American Schooling from its Origins to the Global Era4 credits This course provides students with an overview of the historical, social, philosophical, and political foundations of education in the United States. It investigates key issues such as literacy, diversity, equity, the education of teachers, professionalism, and school reform from historical and contemporary social-cultural perspectives. Major educational philosophies are studied as they develop and change in various historical eras. The course also examines how globalization and large-scale immigration have affected and continue to affect schooling and youth.
