SPAN 363 - History of the Spanish Language4 credits An advanced study of the Spanish language examining its history and development from Latin to the phonological and syntactic descriptions found in present-day usage. Topics include comparative data on Spanish-American and peninsular Spanish, dialectology, sociolinguistics, and idiomatic usage. Linguistic study as applied to literature and pedagogical implications is explored. Prerequisite: SPAN 310 or concurrent registration with SPAN 310 or special permission. CLA-Breadth/Humanities
