ART 230 - Photography II4 credits This course explores analog techniques in contemporary photographic practice. Students use film cameras, process black and white film, and produce gelatin silver prints in the darkroom. Students also learn film scanning to connect traditional processes and digital media. Intermediate-level shooting assignments encourage a deeper understanding of the medium and allow students to expand their own photographic sensibility. The course explores the work of contemporary photographers and continues to build visual arts communication skills through discussion and critique. Includes a photography field trip to New York City. Students provide a SLR film camera or may rent one from Drew, and will need to budget for additional materials.
Prerequisite: ART 130 . Offered annually. CLA-Breadth/Arts
