EDUC 560 - Historical Inquiry3 credits
This course examines cutting edge pedagogy in history education that meets the Common Core State Standards. The focus is on training candidates to teach their students how to think like historians by learning how to analyze and interpret primary source documents, conduct oral history projects and synthesize these sources so that they can use them as evidence in their writing and presentations. A secondary, yet equally important goal is help pre- service teachers develop this challenging curriculum to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students. This course is partially based on field experience in a local school.
