AREL 831 - Contemporary Fiction3 credits This course addresses significant American fiction written since 1945 and answers the question: what is post-modernism and how are its characteristics reflected in recent short stories and novels? The course traces the roots of postmodernism in Modernist thought and literature. Special attention is paid to innovative works written in the last 20 years.
