3 credits A descriptive and mathematical introduction to topics in contemporary physics. Topics include special relativity, early quantum theory, the Schroedinger equation and its applications, and additional selected topics from general relativity, atomic, nuclear, solid state, and elementary particle physics. Prerequisite: PHYS+11, 12 AND MATH+8. Same as: PHYS+103 Offered fall semester.
