SOC 326 - Contemporary Sociological Theory4 credits An examination of theory building and testing in contemporary sociology. The course is divided into two parts. The first part examines the general principles, procedures, and criteria used in the construction and the testing of contemporary sociological theories. The second part systematically assesses how various contemporary theories such as conflict, exchange, feminist theory, functionalism, neo-Marxist theory, postmodern theories, and symbolic interactionism have been constructed and tested. Prerequisite: SOC 101 or permission of instructor. Same as: HISTG+127. Offered spring semester in alternate years.
