RLSC 753 - Suffering, Hope, and the Book of Job

3 credits
This course examines the Book of Job mainly by exploring various psychological interpretations along with biblical interpretations. It also considers both ethical and theological significance of the Book of Job and their implications for pastoral care on such issues as shame, depression, grief, and hope. The course will examine psychological interpretations of Job by Carl Jung, Rene Girard, David Bakan, and others and involve pastoral counseling method based on Kohut’s psychology of the self and ethical understanding base.
