BBST 758 - Framing Ruth3 credits
A study of the book of Ruth, utilizing a number of theoretical, methodological, topical, and culturally informed frames and exploring how such frames focalize, shift, foreground and repress certain meanings and issues in the text, raise questions regarding the text’s production, and suggest new interpretations. Special attention given to the issues of cultural identity as it is contructed in the book of Ruth, as it emerges in the Persian Period, and as it informs contemporary readings.
