Topics covered include the Renaissance, the American founders, the French Revolution, the modern humanistic university, Romantic philhellenism, Matthew Arnold, Friedrich Nietzsche, James Frazer, Modernism, James Joyce, Leo Strauss, and current issues. No prior knowledge of classical antiquity is required.
