CSCI 117 - Introduction to Computers and Computing4 credits An introduction to problem solving with computers, using the Python programming language. Students will learn to design, implement, document and test programs. Language topics include iteration, decision, user-defined functions, and structured data types. No previous programming experience is expected. Prospective computer science majors or minors should begin with this course, which is also appropriate for students who wish to learn some programming, but plan to take no additional computer science courses. Python is a widely-used and accessible programming language for which many excellent tools and libraries exist. Meets: 195 minutes weekly. Offered every semester. CLA-Quantitative
